Welcome to Discovering Bites! A restaurant and bar review blog offering honest hospitality recommendations and occasional activities in London and beyond.

Growing up in London, I was always the odd one out in my family when it came to food. While everyone else stuck with burgers and pizzas, I was nicknamed “Posh Boy” because I was drawn to the more adventurous dishes. Over the years, from my time bartending in London to studying in China, my passion for finding unique and honest food experiences only grew.

On Discovering Bites, you’ll find reviews of everything from the trendiest new bars to hidden gems that deserve more attention. My goal is to provide you with authentic recommendations at various price points that you can truly enjoy.

This blog is about real experiences—whether it’s a no-frills fish and chips shop or a trendy bar that’s actually worth the hype. My reviews will give you a genuine taste of what to expect and what’s worth trying being judged on their quality, vibe and affordability.

As someone that likes to travel, the blog will occasionally include venues in cities outside the London and even additional activities that I believe should be visited.

Why I’m Passionate About Sharing These Experiences

For me, there’s nothing better than helping someone discover their next favourite bar or restaurant. This blog is my way of guiding you to some of the best spots I’ve found, while hopefully inspiring you to explore even more.

Trying new foods and encouraging others to experience new cuisines is also a key passion behind this blog. Living in China, I was exposed to foods that are completely alien to those found in the UK such as culinary treats like bullfrog, crayfish and hotpot. However, I dived in and loved all of it - resulting in my close friends always wanting to eat out with me in China as they trusted my recommendations and would try new foods with me.
