A go-to favourite during work lunch breaks, located in the heart of Victoria at Tachbrook Street Market, this modest-looking stall delivers big Middle Eastern flavour without the grease. Every time I go to work with a homemade lunch, a part of me is regretful knowing I can't get lunch from the Jordanian Cuisine stand at Victoria's Tachbrook Street Market.
Even if I have the tastiest lunch, when I see a colleague come back with the colourful box of Middle Eastern flavours, my heart sinks, my mouth waters, and I become full of envy at my colleague(s) who have got it for lunch.

The Tachbrook Street market has a great selection of food, but for me, the Jordanian Cuisine stall is the gem in the market. Serving steamed cooked food alongside homemade sauces and salad selection, it is also a healthier option.
On the menu, they offer a great selection of meats, including tender chicken, lamb and fish that are deeply seasoned. Jordanian Cuisine is a rice box concept with great value. An extra large, costing just £11, has meat, salad and rice overflowing while the lid struggles to stay closed. My usual go-to is the chicken and lamb mix. The lamb is usually minced, almost kofte style, but the chicken is flaky and orange from all the delicious seasoning that coats it.

To top your meal, you are offered a selection of vibrant salads, including pickles, pomegranate salad, carrots, lettuce and onions, which, when combined with the rice, turns the box into a medley of vibrant colours. I particularly like the pomegranate salad and pink radish pickle that makes the box feel more than just a typical kebab dish; it offers some uniqueness and genuine flavour.
Finally, you are offered a choice of sauces. There are four house sauces available, including tahini, hummus, chilli and garlic, all homemade and bursting with flavour. While it seems like a lot, it all works together. The hummus is added on top of the salad, while the three other sauces top the meat and rice. You can tell the sauces are homemade. There isn't that strong vinegar taste that you would get from a mass-manufactured bottle of sauce; there's a real tastiness to them, particularly some sweetness to the chilli and 'herbiness' from the garlic sauce.

Once I have my box, I cannot wait to find a place to sit and eat it. The lamb is tender and moist with hints of mixed herbs breaking through, while the chicken is savoury and earthy. The best part about the meal, even after finishing an extra-large, you never feel sluggish after eating it. Some of the more greasy options at the market are heavier and will make me struggle for the remainder of the day, but Jordanian Cuisine always manages to hit the right spot of fullness and flavour.
For me, Jordanian Cuisine is a healthy, fast and incredibly tasty choice. It is a perfect lunchtime choice for those working around Victoria Station. It's indulgent while remaining light enough to let you get on with the rest of your day. If not that, then for homemade food and the portion size is incredible value. With at least one colleague always getting it each lunch time, I don't think there could be a better endorsement.
If you are in the Victoria Station area at lunchtime, go check Jordanian Cuisine out and support a great small business.
