London’s diverse food scene offers a wide array of Asian cuisines, from Indian curries to Thai stir-fries, and ramen has become a firm favourite among the city’s diners. With so many options to choose from, finding a good bowl can feel overwhelming. On a typical workday, my colleagues and I headed out for a lunch break and decided to try Bone Daddies—a ramen chain known for its rock and roll vibe and 20-hour broths that promise bold flavours with a British twist.
First Impressions

From the outside, the restaurant presents a sleek, modern façade, housed in a stylish new building wrapped in dark glass. However, stepping inside reveals a distinctly hipster vibe. The staff, decked out in streetwear and inked with tattoos, set the tone for a relaxed, edgy atmosphere. The décor is stripped back, with simple stools and wooden benches creating a communal dining experience. At the centre of the room is an open bar, surrounded by vibrant Japanese-style signage featuring food names and descriptions, reminiscent of the bustling streets of Shinjuku and Kabukicho in Tokyo.
What We Ordered

The menu at Bone Daddies is as daring as its vibe, featuring cheekily named bowls of ramen that reflect the restaurant’s bold personality. I opted for the Pork Pork Chilli, a hearty dish featuring tender pork belly, minced pork, and a rich broth accented with vibrant orange chilli oil, spring onions, and a perfectly runny boiled egg. The pork belly was soft without being overly fatty—just how I like it—and the minced pork added an extra layer of meatiness to the dish. However, I found the spice level underwhelming, despite the multiple chilli icons next to its name on the menu.
Thankfully, Bone Daddies provides a selection of complimentary table toppings to customise your meal. The sesame seed grinders, pickled garlic with a crusher, and chilli oil came in handy. A few generous dollops of chilli oil gave my bowl the kick it was missing and brought the flavours to life.
While my ramen was satisfying enough, Bone Daddies does offer some playful and unique options. For instance, the Hangover combines full English breakfast ingredients such as hash browns and bacon with Japanese ramen—a bold fusion I am not sure will work. My colleagues mostly stuck to classics, with a few choosing the Tonkotsu (The OG), featuring cha shu pork belly and greens, and others opting for the cheeky T22, topped with pulled chicken, 'cock scratchings,' mushrooms, and greens. Every bowl was polished off, and we all returned to work feeling slightly sluggish from the indulgent comfort food we’d just devoured.
Final Thoughts

Bone Daddies isn’t your typical London ramen joint, and it doesn’t try to be. You won’t find traditional Japanese ramen here, but rather a bold, London-infused interpretation of ramen flavours—some staying true to their roots, while others push boundaries.
That said, I couldn’t help but feel the prices were a bit steep. With ramen bowls priced at around £15 and starters at £5–£6, it’s hard not to think about the relatively low cost of the raw ingredients. It feels a little cheeky, especially for casual dining.
What Bone Daddies does deliver, however, is hearty, homemade broths served up quickly—ideal for a mid-city lunch break. If you’re in the mood for ramen with a rock and roll attitude and a playful edge, it’s worth a visit. Just be ready to pay for the experience.
